Introducing Our New Miami-Based Correspondent, From the State Where You Can Never Be Too Thin, Too Rich or Have Too Much Sunshine

Meet Andrea Kavanagh, our new SecondShelters.com Miami contributor. Andrea is a writer and public relations specialist with a passion for real estate and interior design. A seventh-generation Texan, Andrea was recently scooped away from her GORGEOUS home in Preston Hollow to the Sunshine State by her dashing groom, Ken, a Miami-native. Like me, she is real estate obsessed. I knew from our first correspondence that I had a fellow House Porn addict in this friend. Even better: she has a Doodle! Andrea writes for SecondShelters.com from her second shelter in Weston, FL, where the couple currently resides with their Labradoodle, Marilyn Monroe.  Andrea is quickly becoming an expert on the Miami real estate market, as she searches for a new primary address in Coral Gables, FL.  (That second home came in very, very handy.) Stay tuned for updates on celebrity home sales in Star Island, Miami Heat in Coral Gables, virtual tour mishaps in Miami Beach, a tribute to Evelyn Lauder and her chic Palm Beach manse, and much more. Meantime, Marilyn, I mean Andrea, teases us when it’s 40 degrees in Dallas with this listing right on the beach. So it’s a little, shall we say, messy? Maybe she can teach those Miami agents how to stage a home for real estate photos…

This waterfront Mediterranean was built in 1925 and is highly overpriced at $2.4M.  For that price, you’d expect it to be at least somewhat remodeled and in nice condition, right?  You will just die when you see this video.  Not only does the house need major renovations, but it looks like Hurricane Andrew swept through inside, and it has not been cleaned up since!  My personal favorite is the trashed den, complete with a toilet in the middle of the room.  Now that’s multitasking at its finest… you can watch TV from the comfort of your den without ever having to hit pause for a potty break!  Ahhh, and fresh baked cookies in the kitchen…. always a nice touch when trying to sell a house.  Especially when they are sitting next to the Murphy’s Oil and mopping supplies, yummm. The bedrooms are inviting and luxurious.  Can’t you just imagine curling up with all that dirty laundry!  And the Master features a lovely shoe closet, right next to a wet bar, hahaha!  What’s up with the “Open” sign on the terrace door?  I wonder, is there is a red light in the window?
