Wade Phillips Puts His Preston Hollow Home (and Guest Home) on the Market

Share News:

I ran and snapped a quick pic of the Phillips house tonight — not too icy — but I will try to get a better one when the weather clears. Beautiful multi-color stone home, built by Ryan Osborne. And as usual, I stand corrected. (If I had a dollar…) The Phillips bought the home from Osborne so they are the first family to live in the house. It has a kind of U-shape, the garage on the left, and that structure on the right is actually a guest house. No kidding. When they bought the house, they had the builder put the guest house out front at their request, and despite a few objections from the neighborhood. (Neighborhoods!) Why did they want the guest house here?  It was where Phillips mother-in-law was going to live. (What a great son-in-law to go to all that trouble.) Anyhow, she ended up not liking it after all, and moved to a nearby retirement home instead. But you know what, I think it makes guests feel extra special to have the guest house in the front, not back, of the property.

What do you think?

Love the house but Wade Phillips might be the only one to place a premium on backing up to the St Mark's football field!

Yes, I would feel much more liberated while staying in a guest house in front. It’s more neighborly.

How did they get away with that guest house in front? Wasn't it against the Deed Restrictions in the 'hood? That is kind of a cool idea, better than putting your guests in the back.

Sure it's against code. But the guys down at the city got all star struck that it was the Cowboy's coach building the illegal guest house out front.
By the way, most of us in the Hollow (and Park Cities) live in single family homes. Single family means what it sounds like – only one family. Apparently 'servant quarters' are frowned upon and you aren't allowed to rent out the 'back house'. But lots of folks do in the Park Cities. The 'quarters' aren't usually a problem until the foreign nanny brings home a boy friend who offends the neighbors or plays the music too loud. Then someone calls the zoning folks and you're in trouble.

I should think it would be a premium to back up to any private school. During summer months, that's like having a country club in your back yard.

So the great Wade Phillips thinks he can sell a home in Preston Hollow for — did you say $3 million plus? Must be a typo. The comps in this area are from $2.1 to $2.5. Now if it sells for $3mm whatever because it is Wade Phillips house, will someone please tell Steve Brown?
