Dallas Real Estate News: Regina Montoya and Paul Coggins Sell Lakewood Home, Move to Preston Hollow

Regina Montoya and Paul Coggins are apparently taking a lesson from George and Laura Bush: just because the kids are grown, doesn’t mean you need a teeny tiny house. Oh, and come on over to Preston Hollow, the water’s just fine.

You remember Regina Montoya and Paul Coggins? Paul was a former U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas. He is now chairing the white-collar practice, securities litigation, and corporate governance at  Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell LLP. Formerly, Paul was a partner at Fish & Richardson. Regina, his lovely wife, is a Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Children’s Medical Center Dallas where she watches over several major departments, including legal affairs, governance, governmental relations/advocacy, and community relations. A former award-winning television commentator, Montoya is a Harvard-trained attorney and one of the first Latinas to earn partnership in a major law firm in the United States. Not only is she working on a book about the importance of incorporating Latinas into the economic, political, and social fabric of America, she and her husband have been busy building a new home on Lobello Drive in Dallas. Hmm. Wonder if one or both of this power couple has more political aspirations?

Last month, the Montoyas/Coggins sold their East Dallas home at 3302 Oakhurst Street for $699,000. The home had been listed for a high of $899,500 back in May of 2009 by Regina’s brother, realtor Andrew Montoya of The Drew Company. That listing was canceled, a new file went up, and the home was listed for $799,000, then $749,000. Closed February 28.

Oakhurst, which had been built in 1977, was on a .72 acre private creek lot, a one-story home with pool and spa. It had been extensively remodeled, and taken down to the studs. Walls of windows looked out over the verdant lot with creek views. The 3451 square foot home featured three bedrooms, two and a half baths, living area with mosaic fireplace and reading loft, a  Zen solarium with wall fountain. The master bath and suite were huge, spacious and created of stone.

So now Regina and Paul are on to a whole new chapter in their life: an 11,424 square foot home as empty nesters. I can hardly wait!
