If you’re auction savvy, you know that when it comes to getting the price you want can be a gamble. You’ve got to know when to hold them, and know when to fold them …

Those who are eyeing the former estate of country music icon Kenny Rogers will be making bids on the 150-acre property on June 26 in an auction hosted by Grand Estates Auction Company. The resort-like compound, Rogers’ own Lake House, has several living areas and is the perfect spot for a family. The property also includes an equestrian center and three lakes, and tons of hiking trails to roam about.

The estate, which is perfect for those who enjoy spa-like luxury and the outdoorsy type alike, could be a great resort property, too!

Be sure to get your bid in on this perfect second shelter!

    Candy,

My family lived in Athens when I was a kid, and I attended Athens Academy with Christopher Rogers (who is much younger). He was actually flown in from the farm by helicopter every day. Seriously. I have attended several events there, and recall that it (used to?) have a walk-in hot tub in the stables for Kenny's championship horses. It also had a private air strip large enough for Kenny's plane (which I think was a 737…definitely far larger than your average private jet).

In addition, he had city drinking water trucked in to fill his bass ponds, which had annual fishing tournaments. Oh the stories that farm could tell…

Just to clarify, Kenny Rogers' Lake House does not have an equestrian center or a private air strip.

At one time, Kenny Rogers also owned a nearby property called Beaver Dam Farms which featured those things, but it was sold to Wes and Liz Adams in 2003.

The "Lake House" which Kenny Rogers does own and which is selling at auction on June 26th, has 150 acres, fenced pastures, 3 water wells, and a small barn. The property could easily be configured to accommodate horses. The last list price was $2,850,000.

There is one 8-acre lake that is stocked with fish and features an island pavilion for covered picnicking. The property also features a built-in, ground-level trampoline and a Go-Cart circuit track!

Designed around the pool, this is a great house for entertaining and only about 15 minutes from the University of Georgia campus. For all you Bulldog fans, imagine the parties this property could host during football season!
