Napa County may get the lion’s share of the California wine country press while Sonoma County sometimes seems lumped in as an afterthought. But Sonoma has its own quiet magic. Falstaff Grove looks like it could be a resort or bed and breakfast, but it is a private home located approximately 4 miles west of downtown Sebastopol, a popular spot for Sonoma wine country tourists, known for its arts as well as its fine dining.  The area itself is known for apple farms and pinot noir grapes.

Falstaff Grove is a 10-acre property, but takes its name from a private 3-acre redwood grove with old-growth trees. The grove is home to 35 rare Dawn Redwoods.  It’s your own private area to explore, complete with waterfall, trails, and seating areas.  The grounds have been carefully planted with both tropicals and California natives.

The property also includes fruit orchards and raised vegetable beds for your own ample farm-to-table experience. The orchard includes apples, apricots, cherries, plums, peaches, pears, and almonds to fill your kitchen. To prepare your own fruits and vegetables, the chef-inspired kitchen awaits with a six-burner Wolf stove, Miele dishwashers, a built-in refrigerator, and separate pantry.

The main house two en-suite rooms in addition to the master bedroom, as well as an office, game room, great room, dining room and breakfast room, and encompasses 4031 sq. ft with a 2000 sqft deck. The Entertainment Pavilon offers a pub room with 2 taps, refrigeration, caterer’s kitchen, a main room and an upstairs retreat, as well as two rooms that can be used for overnight guests, offices, or lounges.  The pavilion is surrounded by plantings from the Southern hemisphere, and the only fully mature and producing macadamia nut tree in Sonoma County. California Native Oaks, Bay, Fir, and Redwoods flank the grand patio.  The adjacent pond with a sand beach is surrounded with more unusual trees, shrubs and grasses, and plantings of bird of paradise sit at the water’s edge and complements the creeping rosemary.

The entertainment pavilion can be used for retreats or special events.  The grounds make this a truly lovely place to host all sorts of parties, from weddings to charity galas. There is also a second 3,000-square-foot barn for animals, and additional room to plant pinot grapes in the rich soil.

There is also a craft room above garage and a temperature-controlled wine cellar/pub room.
