Vacation for a Cause: A Breckenridge Home Stay Will Benefit Dallas CASA
Share News:
Here’s another sweet opportunity to vacation for a cause: a one-week stay in a mountain home in Breckenridge, Colorado, is among the auction items coming up at the 10th annual Dallas CASA Cherish the Children luncheon April 5 at the Fairmont Dallas. The luncheon raising funds for the abused and neglected children served by Dallas CASA will feature guest speaker Casey Gerald. He’s a Dallas native whose inspirational TED talk on “The Gospel of Doubt” has been viewed by more than 1 million people.
Gerald’s background makes him uniquely pertinent to the subject of the mission of Dallas CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). This is a nonprofit organization that trains and supervises volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected Dallas County children living in protective care. The son of a drug-addicted father and a mentally ill mother who disappeared when he was 12, the Yale University and Harvard Business School graduate credits a community that surrounded him with support for his remarkable rise to success as a business leader, writer, and motivational speaker. CASA volunteers advocate for supportive situations for abused children, assisting judges in gathering information to decide where children in danger can safely and permanently live and thrive.
A silent auction at the luncheon will include one-of-a-kind children’s furniture created by Dallas designers and a special vacation package: a one-week stay in a 5,044-square foot, six-bedroom, six-bath Westridge Lodge home, which sleeps 20 in luxurious comfort. It’s just a short walk to Beaver Run Chairlift and a quick shuttle or car ride to Main Street or any of the base areas. Here’s a look at details on this gorgeous property, which vacation home rental site VRBO lists at an average rental rate of more than $1,600 per night, as well as details on luncheon ticket purchase.
The main living area has a spacious open layout centered around a stone hearth under a cathedral ceiling, with tall windows opening to a spectacular view of Baldy Mountain.
Bar-seating facing the kitchen looks like a perfect spot to perch and chat while whoever’s cooking whips up a meal.
Between the dining room and kitchen, there’s seating for 20 at the tables.
The house has three levels, with cozy nooks, as well as open area, and a game room and bar.
There are six bedrooms. The home’s VRBO (Vacation Rental By Homeowner) page provides a breakdown of beds for 20:
- Bedroom 1: 1 king
- Bedroom 2: 1 king
- Bedroom 3: 2 queen
- Bedroom 4: 2 queen
- Bedroom 5: 2 queen, plus a day bed with a trundle
- Bedroom 6: 1 king, plus a day bed with a trundle
There’s a hot tub for relaxing in after a long day of hiking, biking, or just soaking up views from the comfort in the house.
The vacation stay will be scheduled between April 15-November 15. Here’s a map illustrating the specific location of the house.
