Wahoo, Hawaii! No, “wahoo” is not a place on the Islands or a Hawaiian word (that I know of) – it’s a whoop of approval, because Southwest Airlines has announced they intend to open air service to The Aloha State soon. No word yet as to which airport they will favor, but Kahului Airport in Maui is sure to be a contender, so it’s a good time to check in on vacation housing there. There’s no better place to start than Wailea, a 1500-acre resort on Maui’s southwestern coastline that’s one of the world’s leading luxury destinations. Fancy a view like this?
The Wailea community boasts six world-class luxury resort hotels, including Hawaii’s only Relais & Châteaux-affiliated lodging, the boutique Hotel Wailea, which was voted “No. 1 hotel in Hawaii” in Condé Nast Reader’s Choice Awards 2017 and “No. 1 Hotel in Maui” by the 2017 Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards. Others are the Andaz Wailea Resort; the Fairmont Kea Lani; the Four Seasons Resort Maui Wailea; the Grand Wailea, Waldorf Astoria Resort; and the Wailea Beach Resort Maui. Residents of the 2,000 single-family homes, townhouses, and condominiums in Wailea enjoy access to the resorts’ many restaurants, shops and spas; three world-class golf courses; an award-winning tennis center; and a mile and a half of stunning beaches and volcanic rock outcroppings. Local realtorCarol Olsen of Coldwell Banker Island Properties offered us a look at a condominium property in the area she considers exceptional: 4000 Wailea Alanui, Unit 801 of Wailea Point. “Wailea Point is a luxury oceanfront community that sits in the perfect location in the heart of Wailea,” Olsen explains. “This prime 26-acre oceanfront property is nestled at the base of Mount Haleakala, basking in the Maui warm sunshine and cool ocean breezes. The lava coastline provides beautiful rock pools with abundant marine life and the property sits between two of Hawaii’s loveliest white sand beaches. Unit 801 sits across the street from the Wailea Blue Golf and within walking distance to all of the finest restaurants in Wailea.”
The three-bedroom, four-bath, 2,554-square foot home has spectacular oceanfront views. It’s the largest floor plan at Wailea Point, a prestigious venue which offers gated entry, 24-hour security, two recreation pavilions with kitchens, four pools including a 25-meter lap pool, two spas, tennis courts, a fitness center, and more. Unit 801 is located near the community’s gym, family pool, and quiet pool area close to the beach. The property is listed for $3.699 million. Here’s a look:
