Stein Eriksen — it’s the name of an Olympic Gold Medalist; an acclaimed Park City, Utah ski hotel; and of knockout-gorgeous, newly-constructed, ski-in, ski-out residences affiliated with the famous lodge. Designed in contemporary mountain vernacular, the 39 Stein Eriksen Residences set a new bar for ski housing.
The Stein Eriksen Lodge is located in the historic mining town of Park City, Utah, roughly 35 minutes away from the Salt Lake International Airport. The area is famed for an arts scene that includes the Sundance Film Festival (imagine the rental rates then!); world-class hiking and biking trails; blue ribbon fly-fishing; and, of course, winter sports. The stand-out ski facility in the area, Deer Valley Resort, was the setting for the 2002 Winter Olympics, and is routinely acclaimed as a top U.S. resort by the likes of the World Ski Awards and Ski Magazine. The Stein Eriksen Lodge within Deer Valley has also been well-recognized, rated as “Five Star” by Forbes, and named the “Best Ski Hotel in the United States” an astonishing three years in a row, 2014-2016, in the World Ski Awards. The Lodge is the namesake of Stein Eriksen (1927-2015), a charismatic Norwegian Olympic Gold Medalist who became director of the ski program and ambassador of several American ski resorts, ultimately settling at the hotel which was named in his honor. The European-style, ski-in, ski-out Lodge is home to the only Forbes Five-Star Spa in the state and is in the process of expanding its entertainment, pool, and outdoor event spaces, a project expected to be completed in June, 2018. A quick tour via video offers a look at the spa and other hotel amenities now in place:
The Lodge-affiliated Stein Eriksen Residences is the newest high-end, luxury property in Park City. Construction of the Residences began in 2014, along with initial sales for ownership. Construction of the ski-in, ski-out residences was completed in fall 2016.
Think Architecture designed the 39 condominium units and 15 single family homes, which are located just off Deer Valley’s Last Chance ski run and Silver Dollar Trail. All are privately owned. Stein Collection manages 25 condos and two homes which are in the rental pool, and oversees all of the properties’ amenities: the pool, valet service, concierge/front desk service, fitness center, spa, and locker room. Condominium units range from one to five bedrooms, and up to 4,700 square feet. The home range from four-six bedrooms and up to 6,237 square feet. All reflect a contemporary mountain aesthetic, with interior design by Denton House Design and interior decoration by Alder & Tweed in options of warm or cool palettes.
