Amber and Derek Curry bought their Conifer, Colorado, mountain home for their family — but now that they’ve decided to put it on the market, it could also make someone a great (and stunning) second home.
About an hour or so from Denver (which means day trips for fun are easy), the land (and mountains and trees that surround it, have provided the Currys constant glimpses of deer and other wildlife, and plenty of opportunities for family hikes.
And, Amber said, the only reason they’re listing it is that they want to be closer to family — otherwise, they’d be there for life.
“It was probably the most difficult decision of our lives!” she said. “We’re making a move that is better for our family, but we will dearly miss living in this home.”
From their first walk-through with their Realtor, the Curry family fell in love with the views — and the privacy — that the home affords.
“When we walked in, it felt like a true dream home. We were hypnotized by the views!” Curry said. “There are mountain views from every window. I was also blown away by the amazing master retreat in the upper level of the house. It’s my favorite part of the house.”
The home is on a forested 8 acres, and has easy access to the highway. And even though it’s a mountain home, it still has some flat land for gardening.
The Currys redid the decks with composite decking on the main and upper levels of the home, to better enjoy the mountain views.
The fireplace in the living room ensures the space feels cozy, and wood ceilings add to the coziness.
A large, updated eat-in kitchen also has a fireplace, and is roomy enough for the entire family to cook together.
Upstairs, a master suite boasts a wood-burning fireplace, more gorgeous views, and a deck. There is also a large loft with an additional fireplace and deck.
The walk-out basement provides two more bedrooms (one with an en-suite and gas fireplace) and a large bonus room with another fireplace, and with its own exterior entrance.
And pretty much every room is built to showcase the gorgeous mountain views.
“I think the home would be perfect for small families, or anyone who wants to get away from the city and have the mountains at your doorstep,” Curry said. “And people who ski, and want to be closer to the lifts. People who like biking and hiking.”
The home, she said, will make someone a wonderful home and retreat, just as it has been for her family.
“I love how it feels like a mountain retreat, while also feeling homey and cozy,” she said. “I love the privacy, and views. You feel like you’re alone in the mountains, all the while being close to everything you need.”
