As an art gallery owner with a love for Southwestern artists, Brian Roughton found himself making the trip to Santa Fe pretty regularly for a while. Roughton, who owns Roughton Galleries in the Dallas Design District, actually grew up in the area and knows Santa Fe quite well. So when it was time for Roughton and his wife, Kayla, to buy a second home in Santa Fe, they knew exactly what they wanted.
“We started going to Santa Fe pretty often when we were furnishing our home in Dallas,” Roughton said. “When we decided to purchase a second home in Santa Fe, I had already decided that I wasn’t building or buying anything that I would have to furnish.”
It was a low-maintenance, lock-and-leave condo that would be perfect for the pair, Roughton said. They wanted a spot that had some flexibility, but was easy to love because they visited Santa Fe fairly often. Of course, they also wanted the option of renting an additional unit should they have friends or family visit, too. They found all of this with fractional ownership at El Corazon de Santa Fe, a Fairmont Heritage Place property.
