Our Splurge: Adam Stults with Amanda Howard Sotheby’s International Realty has listed 2731 Battlement Drive, Tuscaloosa, Alabamafor $3.5 million.
This week we take you to Tuscaloosa, Alabama – home of the Crimson Tide and sntebellum beauties like the famed Battle-Friedman House and Jemison-Van de Graaff Mansion. Our top picks offer fantastic lots with lushly landscaped lawns and gorgeous architecture that harkens back to a bygone era. Which do you prefer, the cliffside splurge or the stately steal?
Miami and Miami Beach have a bit of a reputation — thanks in part to the celebrities that have second (or third, or fourth) homes in the area — of being where you go for luxury beach living.
And luxury, as we all know, doesn’t come cheap. But for this week’s Splurge Vs. Steal, we’re heading to Miami Beach, the city connected only by bridges to mainland Miami, where the prices vary as widely as the beaches, and the southern end — South Beach — is nearly synonymous with models and celebrities.
We have a gorgeous beachfront condo with luxurious amenities thanks to its affiliation with a luxury hotel, and a more modest option that is much lower in price point, but ripe for becoming that blank slate ready for your modern touches. Which one will you pick?(more…)
Our Splurge: Andie Cummings with Matt O’Neill Real Estate has listed 79 Sandbar Lane, Folly Beach, South Carolina for $519,999.
Known by the locals as the “Edge of America,” Folly Beach has long been a haven for South Carolina residents and vacationers alike. For those who appreciate rich history, painted sunsets, and waterfront fun, this beachside city just south of Charleston has lots to love. If you’re considering a second shelter near the water, we have two Folly Beach beauties that deserve a look. Which would you choose, the Sandbar Lane Splurge or the Mariner’s Cay Steal?
Splurge: Rooftop Retreat Just A Short Walk To Folly Beach
Our Splurge: Leslie McElwreath with Sotheby’s International Realty Greenwich has listed 17 Ivanhoe Lane, Greenwich, Connecticut for $3.1 million.
For architecture buffs and house enthusiasts alike, few structures are more appealing than a big white Colonial. So this week, we are taking you to Greenwich for the chicest homes this side of Connecticut. The only question is, which will you choose?
Splurge: Masterful Colonial With A Private Pond For $3.1M
Our Steal: Mark Jenkins with Wallace & Co. Sotheby’s International Realty has listed 38 Morse Street, Edgartown, Massachusetts for $3.2 million.
What is more patriotic than a summer house in Martha’s Vineyard? If it’s good enough for the Kennedys, it’s good enough for us! In fact, the Obamas and the Clintons have also summered here. And this week, we are putting the spotlight on two of its gems! A prize offering right on the water, and a historic, red, white, and blue steal. Both are in Edgartown, Massachusetts – one of the quaint harbor towns that occupies the idyllic summer island of Martha’s Vineyard – but each have price points that are miles apart.
Splurge: Picturesque Harbor Front Compound For $17.5 Million
It’s charming. It’s magical. It’s perfectly nestled in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. Ever been to Dollywood? For those who haven’t, Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountains amusement park is the top destination for family vacations in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. But there’s more to Pigeon Forge than Dollywood’s Splash Country. The town is ideal for second homebuyers looking to vacation or retire. And this week, we are showcasing two of its best offerings. Each has a story to tell but with price points that are miles apart.
Now there’s only one thing left to do. Make like a Draper James t-shirt and ask yourself, “What would Dolly do?”
The Austin City Limits Music Festival just announced their line up and it’s going to be good! So we thought it only fitting to dedicate this week’s Splurge vs. Steal to homes near Zilker Park.
New to the fest? No problem! The Austin City Limits Music Festival is an annual music festival held in Zilker Park in Austin, Texas. It takes place on two consecutive, three-day weekends, and is inspired by the KLRU/PBS music series of the same name. The festival is produced by Austin-based company C3 Presents, which also produces Lollapalooza. In a nut shell, it’s one of the most epic outdoor music fests in Texas. And this year they have Guns N’ Roses, Childish Gambino, The Cure, and Cardi B, y’all!
Living near the park is a great idea, regardless of the show. Homes near Zilker Park run the gamut too, from swanky condos to eclectic moderns to updated farmhouses. And we found two that put you right near the action. All you have to do is snag tickets and stroll into Zilker park like you own the joint. Plus, the income potential could be massive for those who want to lease their home during the festival. Just check out the rates on some nearby properties on Airbnb!
